X- ray enables the doctor to examine these three organs of your urinary and
gastrointestinal systems.A
kidney, ureter, and bladder (KUB) X-ray may be performed to assess the
abdominal area for causes of abdominal pain, or to assess the organs and
structures of the urinary and/or gastrointestinal (GI) system. A KUB X-ray may
be the first diagnostic procedure used to assess the urinary system

Required: Overnight fasting required.
Uses
of X Ray KUB
To
find out the gall/kidney stones, abdominal pain due to gastro related diseases
To
diagnose presence of any foreign objects if swallowed accidently
To
reveal any changes in the shape and size of the kidneys, ureter and bladder due
to any infection or injury
To see the entrapped air or fluid between the spaces
of abdominal organs
Precaution
Please note that these scans involve
X-Ray radiation, and are not to be performed during pregnancy.
You may have to remove your jewelry and
any metal objects which might interfere with the image.
Depending on the area to be imaged, you may be asked
to wear a hospital gown at the time of the scan.
