Seafarers Health Center ( Cruise Medical Exam)
In order to enhance
the quality of the Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) in the Nepal, NITA
started a PEME programme to help members’ select healthy crew in 2015. Located
in the heart of the city Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, could be a suitable health
institution to provide Seafarers Medical Check-up.
We are provided with
an approved clinic, capable of performing high quality examinations. The
seafarer undergoes a thorough examination to reveal any health risk and, if
necessary, is given advice on how to take care of his/her health.
We provide
international certifications for seafarer’s medical examination under ILO, MLC,
BMA for Seafarers Norwegian Cruise line, Apollo Group cruise, Star Cruise,
Genting Hong Kong (GHK), MPA Singapore, Seven Seas, Marshall Island, Adora
Cruises (CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping) etc.

Seafarers spend a
significant amount of time at sea in extreme weather. Thus, they are likely to
acquire illnesses at any time. They can increase risks of accidents, poor
health, anxiety and stress, and general fatigue. The shipping industry requires
comprehensive seafarer medical check-up to reduce risks to other crew members
and for the safe operation of the ship, as well as to safeguard their personal
health and safety.

Specific investigation and Vaccinations required by recruiting cruise
line/company need extra cost according to the requirements.
Further
tests/investigations should be done (only) if there is any reason to suspect
abnormalities that need to be clarified before endorsing “FIT” for sea duty.

Fasting not mandatory for this health screening
package except for those patients who are being treated for high cholesterol
AND/OR are presently taking cholesterol medications.
Pregnant applicants
have the option to undergo chest x ray with protective gear (double lead shield
covering of the abdomen) or can defer medical exam until post-delivery. Applicant
must check with their Gynecologist before coming for the medicals regarding the
above.
Food - no
restrictions.
Payment Details
All fees must be borne
by the applicant and can be paid in cash / Online.
If any other further tests/consults are advised by the panel physician
after the medical examination, applicants must bear the cost.
Cost of additional test - As per the current
Clinic tariff.
Cost of the vaccines are additional.
Duration of The Medical Check Up
The duration of the
medical examination: 1 to 2 hours on the 1st day.
Reports Dispatch
The reports will be
handed over on the third working day because of the Tuberculin skin test which
will be read after 48 hours.
If the reports are
abnormal additional tests will be required which will delay the duration of
stay. Abnormal reports will be sent to consulate once cleared by the panel
physician.
