1st line drugs - (Isoniazide, Rifampicin, Pyrazinamide, ethambutol and streptomycin).
2nd line drugs -(include Kanamycin, levofloxacin, PAS(Para-amino salicylic acid), Rifabutin, Ethionamide)
Technique: Automated fluorescent, on MGIT
Technique: Submit pure growth of AFB on appropriate media in a sterile, screw capped container in a sealed plastic bag. Send refrigerated OR when used with other AFB Culture or Mycobacteria identification tests, the pure growth obtained in the Laboratory from specimens already submitted will be processed for drug sensitivity.
Technique: 2-8C
Sample Collection Instruction: Specify nature and site of specimen on container and test requisition form.
