This Orthopaedic Disease Check Profile has been
scientifically designed to help one manage the joint pains that are increasing
causes of morbidity. It can be of various types and be described as
inflammation of bone joints. Our Orthopaedic Disease Check Profile is popular
in Kathmandu, Nepal.
This package has tests to check for:
Complete Blood Count (CBC):
This test for Blood disorders, infections, allergy, which tell us about the status of
Hemoglobin and Iron, any infection in the blood and nature of infection
(Bacterial / Viral), and platelet count.
Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR):
A
faster-than-normal erythrocytes (red blood cells) settle rate may indicate
inflammation in the body
An
ESR test can help to determine if you have a condition that causes
inflammation, may also be a sign of a chronic disease, an immune disorder, or
other medical condition.
Uric
Acid: This
test measures the amount of uric acid in your blood. Uric acid is a nitrogenous
compound that is formed as a byproduct of metabolic activities and is
eliminated by the kidneys. This test is done to diagnose gout and to check the
efficacy of medication that lowers uric acid. Your doctor may advise this test
if you have symptoms like pain and swelling in the joints, joints that feel
warm when touched, and shiny skin around joints.
Calcium: Calcium
is a mineral found in the body responsible for many vital functions like
maintaining bones strength, muscles, nerve function, and blood clotting.
Abnormal levels of calcium can lead to several complications in the body like
kidney disease, bone disease, multiple organs tumors.
Vitamin
D: Vitamin
D (25-OH) test measures the level of Vitamin D (25-OH) in the blood which is a
useful indicator of many bones related problems and helps in diagnosis of
osteoporosis (bone weakness), rickets (bone malformation), and osteomalacia
(bone softening). Vitamin D plays a major role in calcium homeostasis, Vitamin
D helps our body absorb calcium and phosphorus, and maintain strong bones and
teeth.
C-Reactive
Protein (CRP): This test is
generally used as a Measure of Inflammation, CRP is produced by white blood cells,
liver cells and fat cells. It is a highly sensitive and easily measured
biomarker of inflammation.
RA
Factor: Rheumatoid
factor (RF) test determines the presence of rheumatoid antibodies in the body.
These are the autoantibodies produced by body's own immune system that attack
the healthy tissues. Presence of high level of RF antibodies might indicate the
presence of serious autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus
erythematosus, chronic infections like tuberculosis and leukemia.
Symptoms
like joints pain, fatigue, weight loss, fever, weakness, lumps formation may be
suggestive of RF antibodies and testing is usually advised in such cases.
Anti-Streptolysin
O (ASO): To
detect bacterial infection in the body caused by Streptococcus bacteria. This
test measures the amount of antibodies produced against streptolysin O, a
substance produced by group A Streptococcus bacteria. It is recommended in case
of symptoms such as fever, joint pain, rashes and shortness of breath.
Creatinine: is a waste product in your blood that comes from muscle activity. It is normally removed from your blood by your kidneys,
Blood urea
nitrogen (BUN):
BUN is a measure of the amount of nitrogen in the blood that comes from urea,
which is formed when protein is broken down. High levels of BUN indicate kidney
dysfunction.
Electrolyte
levels:
Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and calcium are essential for the proper
functioning of the kidneys. Abnormal electrolyte levels can indicate kidney
problems.
Process:
No Special
Preparation Required. lab technician will collect blood sample from the
patient. This will be processed in a lab and the report provided usually within
24 hours.
