A haemoglobin electrophoresis test is a
blood test used to measure and identify the various kinds of haemoglobin in the
bloodstream.
Hemoglobin electrophoresis is among the
routine blood tests done during pregnancy and the first prenatal visit. The
hemoglobin electrophoresis tests for abnormal forms of hemoglobin
(hemoglobinopathy). Most patients with abnormal hemoglobin have no symptoms but
could potentially transmit the gene to their fetus.

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)/ Capillary Electrophoresis
