Description

Influvac Tetra Vaccine helps protect you from influenza (flu). It works by exposing you to a small dose of the flu virus which helps your body to develop immunity against the disease. Vaccination will not treat an existing flu virus infection.

The flu virus is a rapidly mutating virus. Based on the circulating flu viral strains the vaccine is updated annually. The flu vaccine offers protection against 3 or 4 flu viruses which research suggests will be the most common ones for that particular year.

A new vaccination is needed every year (even though you may have antibodies to a previous version). It is never 100% effective and some strains will be immune, but it is still your best defense against influenza and will reduce the seriousness of the illness if you get it.

Risk group for flu

Even normal healthy people can get infected and develop various complications of the influenza infection, there are a few groups who are considered particularly at risk. Those being-

·       Children under 5 years- especially under age 2

·       People 65 years and above
